Ok, how many phone calls and how many days does it take to schedule an appointment for a Lumbar Puncture (LP)?
The scoop: The high pressure has returned in my head. I get dizzy with movement, have a hard time feeling the floor and space, have a humongous headache. I have to have the high pressure drained off again. The procedure is called a "High Volume Lumbar Puncture".
Now, I hate having people stick needles into my spine areas, it's very uncomfortable. So far this year I have had 5. But, it's needed so I tend to wait a longer time than I should to complain about it to my doctor. So, by the time I say "OK, let's do it" then I need it done sooner than later.
The doctor sent the order on Thursday of last week. Cedars scheduler was supposed to call me Thursday. They did not. I called them on Friday, they assured me someone would call. To date: I have made no less than 14 phone calls to several different departments and even back to my MD. I don't know, there seems to be some confusion. Why?
Anyway, the Neurologist says I might need a shunt since this is a recurring problem. I need wisdom to know how to proceed. I don't want to have surgery, but I'll submit to it if it's the best solution. But is it the best solution? I don't know yet.
My head is so painful! By the way, if you have Pseudotumor Cerebrii, DON'T BEND, STRETCH or LIFT stuff! It makes the problem much worse! I regret cleaning up that little bit of house work! I thought I was doing a good thing! Eek?
Oh, I get dizzy when people touch the wheelchair! It wouldn't happen to normal folks..... so most people don't realize it, but for someone with too much pressure in their brain, little movements like that can make you exceptionally dizzy/woozy.
Thanks! I needed to "vent" a little. :) (always chipper, no Joy Robbers allowed!)
