Hi! Went for my High Volume Lumbar Puncture today to drain the excess pressure off my brain. I got my favorite LP doctor, and one of my favorite nurses......
No go. He tried 5 times to get the spinal tap to work, but it just wouldn't work. Felt faint and had to lay down for 2 hours and quite frankly really I feel very very bad right now! Talked with my Neurologist and I'm supposed to go back to ER and be admitted to Cedars-Sinai hospital if anything changes that worries me.
This was so painful and I'm still in amazing, blinding pain!
Anyway, I just feel like God's in charge. Sometimes what looks like a mistake might actually be part of a plan that differs from ours. You know? Anyway, they're trying to get me a LP done under flouroscopy but they can't measure Pressure for those types of spinal taps...... so I said I won't consent if they can't get a Pressure reading because really, that's the whole purpose of doing these spinal taps is to relieve Pressure. It's necessary to get a Pressure reading at the beginning and at the end.
Anyway, my Neurologist is consulting with the Interventional Radiology group to see what can be done.
We made it home so I hope things settle down now that I'm here.
Maybe this will help settle the question whether to have a shunt or not.
